Is there a reason that the 600 and 700 SCI motors are like the only two Merc Racing motors in production without DTS? Can it be added?

Those engines are based on the 500efi. So, 20 year old tech.

If you mean 502 based then yes.

Digital throttle/shift can be added OP.
Yes they are 502 c.i. They are the same internals as the 500hp and the 500efi blue engines. Just with a Lysholm blower added. When did those first come out? 1996 then 1999? They don’t offer the 600sci/700sci with DTS because they are a 25+ year old package.

Do these sell enough for Mercury to "update" them to "new technology?" I would think so but they haven't sooo...

650/750, 700/800 marketing? Seems they could do something or are they that slow selling or they sell so many they don't need to mess with them?

i dont know of any update kits from merc.

but it is possible to do so. upgrading to DBW is an EASY and very effective. this would require a different ECU and harness, and then the tuning options are endless.

You can add DTS? That’s new to me, but interesting. Is it a stand alone management system, or all new ECU, or?
In the brochure Mercury Racing states optional DTS with smartcraft.

for the moment, you would replace the ECU. I already do this with Motec ECU's. you would then have open tuning, drive by wire, you can even do electronic shift. this also allows logging, wide band exhaust sensors....on and on. PM me for more details.

Yeah I know you’ve been working with the Motec boys. Excited to see that technology FINALLY make its way into this world!

Currently there are no kits to add DTS to either engine. I spoke with some insiders at mercury racing a few years back and at that time there were no plans to offer them in DTS. Yes, anything can be done with the right amount of money, but it would be a significant investment. The 600 and 700SCI engines are not based off the 500EFI. Not even close except for displacement and actual block. Everything else is different. Adding DTS to an engine, even one that is offered that way from the mfg, is not as easy as everyone thinks. Throttle body, ECM, wiring harness, controls and shift actuators all must be replaced. If the boat is a twin then the command modules also need to be replaced. I've quoted it out several times for customers and it just gets too expensive.

Meant to say the 525efi blue motor. They share the same block, crank, rods, heads, valve train etc. 600sci’s have been around a while.

Actually, you are partially correct. The later 500EFI shares the same block, crank and rods with the 525 and 600SCI. I did a little research after I posted!
