Long story short. I have a new 540 BBC. About 610 hp 610 tq. I have a 2006 22 Eliminator Daytona with a Merc 496 200 hours. Stainless headers full hydraulic steering, and Imco shorty. The other boat is a 1998 Eliminator Eagle 236 With a 496 Marine power 496. Really like them both. I keep one in Havasu and the other at my lake house and Ca delta. (I don’t like towing 650 miles each way.) Thoughts on what boat gets the 540?

That’s a great dilemma and I think the other guys are right in saying the Daytona.

I’m going to go against the grain and say the Eagle gets the 540.

Marine power sucks and a little more power would make that Eagle more fun. The Daytona doesn’t need it as much.

Daytona. You will notice more performance gains with the Daytona than the v bottom.

The Eagle is the 2 step bottom
I understand the 236 gets a little squirrelly over 80, not that I would know personally .;)

Back when the 236/250's were new, around 1995, guys were turbocharging 502's and running the boats 90+, but you need hydraulic steering, and you really need to know what you're doing.

Sounds to me like you need another 540!

Sounds like the brain trust is leaning Daytona. Kinda what I was thinking also. I could put the merc 496 in the Eagle when that motor goes.

Those 496's last forever unmolested.

Did you take the stereo system credit on the eliminator? Lol

I went by Horizon on Saturday to see if they still had it. Cool another RDP member got it.

Without question the Daytona will benefit the most from more power. It won't run 100 but you definitely get to 90.

I’m liking the idea of selling both motors. The Eagle will need a bit more money tossed at it for hydraulic steering etc.
