It's my wife's decision. Moving to LHC in October. Retiring Friday. This is what she wants. Going to Jersey to look at the same boat with 300s. 30 ft with twin biminis and a camper back canvas set up. Any thoughts. Selling the 388 with 850s and 6s. 219 hrs. 115 mph boat. It will free up some money to build a garage- pole barn. Mom and grandkids won the war.

My only strong hold was, it's gotta have twins. I'm a terrible docker without them. I smash into everything with a single. Got use to twins. I don't even drink. Scary, huh?

You are going to love LHC in October! It’s my favorite month of the year.. whether isn’t blazing hot / water is still warm.

That pontoon boat is nice!

I know. But you guys will get me to 59 I hope. It's all about the grandkids now. Just like twins for many reasons, had to go up in length. Trailer friendly and still have some cool factor. It will be a set back in performance, been there, family comes first! The good news is, 20 of you inmates can ride on this legally. I hope to meet some of you all. I'll let RD drive.

If you are living in Havasu with a toon as your primary boat, you have to get something that scoots for mid week boating and early morning breakfast runs to Topock or Springs. I would put that toon and a 21 Daytona in my stable if I was you.

Agree - I know of one listed in the Maxed Out section here that would fit the bill.

Also have a 2017 Kawasaki ski. 74 on the ticker. Won't have to worry about being late for breakfast.

I want the camper back. 4000 grand option. 6-8 headroom, also want the Mercs. 38 hrs on them. I heard 58 from another member, this will roll 63-65 All day long. I know who I'm buying it from. That's half the speed of my boat now. As stated, the wife won! Air conditioning and a camper back? I know where I'll be watching the next Superbowl.

Was just thinking of SJP’s ride for him. Best of both worlds

I suggest a cabin in Flagstaff, to get a break from the summer heat. :)

Don't know the river. Have heard it gets chopped up. Been on the St Lawrence and Ontario my whole life. Not to worried about this puddle. No disrespect to any body of water. 4 ft, or 40 ft, it still kills. My wife still asks me about the snakes.

Nothing wrong with doing something different. Half the fun is scouting out new coves to hang out in.
Cant do that at 115mph

Thanks. That's what I wanted to hear. From Parker to Powell, with mead in the mix, it just makes sense for us. And, I ain't afraid of the Pacific.

It will take some time to learn the desert life. I have 4 snowmobiles I don't want to get rid of. A sxs here are illegal. No roads, no trails no option. We are only open to snowmobiles.

I do like them. Are those the boats with all the crap on the transom? Plates, hydraulics, and bling? I can't even amagine a 2 ft wave. Beautiful boats, just not my thing. My 388 will drink 5 footers all day long. Won't even spill a drink. My kids have slept for 40 miles in 3 foot waves. No disrespect to you all. Check your attitudes at your door. I'm only asking questions for our family move. I want to learn the river and meet you all. Thanks.

No waves at the river. Unusual at Havasu.
RC means River Cruiser on the Schiada's.
21' v-drives are The original River Hot Rod.
90 mph in 21 V-drive will feel a WHOLE HELL of alot FASTER than 115 in your 388.
Think of them as sports cars on the water....

Come next Desert Storm you're going to regret selling your boat when there are are ton of bad ass boats and you're tooling around in a barge on tin cans!:D

You won't be too far from the Pacific Ocean too. SCOPE puts on some good runs out there. Also the Big Cat on the Delta.

Well, you tell that to my wife. A 30 ft tin can, twin 300s, camper back canvas, ac, generator, stripper pole, and a full bar. I hope I'm the slowest boat.

Agree, man cannot live on toon alone, you gotta have something to get your rocks off early in the morning (besides your wife)

Here's a little video done a few years back that can give you a bit of what it is like in a 21' v-drive.

The 388 is a boat that most of us only dream of ever owning. And here you have one and are telling us that you are going to sell it to buy a pontoon!

Out of pure jealousy and zero common sense.......I wouldn't sell it. LMAO! Keep that sucker and "Make it work!"

You will love it! I am (was) a die hard sledder, have owned some serious sled hardware, and I can tell you without question that once you get the LHC and learn the SxS deal you will forget all about the sleds. I only rode 3 times all last winter, and flew to Havasu from Oregon 6 times to enjoy what it offers. October/November are freaking awesome in Havasu!

I have a twin engine toon boat and really like the way it drives. I would go with the smallest toon boat with twins the most HP.

Toon boats have a lot of room for their size.

Havasu is a great place to retire and play.

Can't lose on a pontoon. The one I'm looking at is nice. The guy built in the back a Honda generator with air in and exhaust out. The camper back canvas covers the back to just in front of the helm. Stitched in port for stand up portable a.c. unit. 30 ft with twin 300s. She will move. I just don't see where the 388 can be used to her fullest. I'm used to running 80 plus, and that's just cruising speed for 40, 50 miles at a time. We would have dinner in Rochester N.Y. And after dinner, we would run across to Toronto to party. 120 miles one way. I've gotten there in a little over an hr. The boat was built to run, not do channels and speed zones. This pontoon will be a better fit for LHC.

A lot of you all asked about my motors. I have a good friend here who builds high end Sprint car motors. Mostly the world of outlaws. It's big here on the east coast, and bigger in Canada. I went to him in 2009 and said, hey what would it take to put 2 of your 900 hp, fuel injected motors in my boat, and can you do it? He said, no problem. Long story short, we had to marinize them. Lost 50 hp to jacket the motors. I had the rear deck raised 2 inches for air induction, and direct air induction on the gunnys where it's yellow. Look at pic. I wanted no scoops. It's worked awesome. Motors aren't all bling. 14 quart dry sumps. I wanted a boat that could run hard and be dock friendly. It is the real deal when it comes to performance. That's what's under the lid for those who wondered. I've had my wife run the boat at 90 and I've gone below to take a poop with no worries. Ya, I'll miss her, but they make them everyday.

When I go out in a friends boat it takes us about 15 minutes from Devils Elbow to Windsor. In my toon boat it is a lot longer. The lake feels very small when you are traveling fast (cruising at 80 and above for 15 miles). Your new toon boat will be nice with shade and recliner seats. Have fun on your new adventure.

Sold. 147,000. The pontoon is pushing 86,000. The 300s cost me. Frees up the 50,000 to build a cave. On to real estate questions. Not coming west of the river. LHC is the plan. 32 years of my life come to an end Monday morning with GM. Been a good living. Tears as I write this. Love to meet a lot of you all. Best forum I've ever dealt with.
