Gelcoater,

I bet people in your line of work would be willing to pay you to teach them this art of shooting the gelcoat design and colors.

and a beautiful 28 this cat is!

Hey Gary? Did they start Mike's seats yet?
Progress?
Most of these build threads never show much in the upholstery dept or the magicians that work in there.
Talk about skill??
Making all that stuff from scratch, getting all the sewing lines matched up and various patterns and colors, etc etc.
We need to see some action from upstairs.:thumbsup

I've seen quite a few green boats lately...this is by far the best looking one. That is a true talent you have in the molds.

You can have all the people in the world want to learn how to do what he does but you can't teach the eye for colors or design...you have it or you don't kind of like Pink Taco behind the lens...and we all know Gelcoater has it! Great job!

I'm thinking you're right.

Nice work on the gel, Gelcoater. Gorgeous boat.

Do you only do gel in the mold, or do you also do work when they cap them? Both processes amaze me.

I only do in the mold work. They have another guy that does capping and repair. He's a talented guy.

He bought the motors before he picked out the gel ... :skull Maybe paint the cowlings at this juncture, or green/white the accents on them ...

Can't believe I missed who this is being built for, Mike was our salesman and did a great job. Congrats Mike.:thumbsup

Maybe without getting too crazy, just replacing the red with green would look pretty good.

The "kit" is really for the white engines, the black engines only come with red graphics, but the white engines come in a bunch of different accent colors. It looks like Wake Effects just ordered the green graphics for the white engines and applied them to the black engines. Whodathunkit?:)

You guys are crazy! You keep moving down the length that you sell with 400's. The 28' is the minimum length that should be used with these motors.

Why? Balance and CG. Get it wrong and disaster happens. The 28 has a 9' beam which help to displace the 1336 lbs (2 400 verados). The 27, really 26'10", is 6 " narrower as well as 1' 10" shorter. The bow will start out much higher and level out once on plane. The 25 is even more extreme, another 2' shorter and 2" narrower.

The 27' has a chance of handling this weight w/o too many drawbacks. Maybe a lot of bowrise on takeoff and too much bow lift at speed. I think this could be acceptable to an owner wanting the best acceleration.

The 25' is really pushing the limits of physics. This hull will struggle getting on plane. It may even porpoise which most Daytona's no longer do. Once it starts packing air, things will straighten out. The 25' with twin 400's is for the experienced, daring and a speed freak. For the rest of us, add a couple of feet of centerline and stay safe.

Fair points, Dave.:thumbsup
I suspect they'll place some ballast up front as a start but agree that could be a hairy ride in the wrong hands.

I had to revisit this post.
Any idea what a 2 stroke Merc 2.5 weighs?
I want to say they're close to 400lbs ?

Gary had some old video playing today at the shop from Eliminator regatta #3
Among the boats in the video was a Gen 1 Eliminator 23 Daytona with not two but three of them strapped on.
That would be close to 1200lbs hanging off the back of a 23.:eek

In the video it lined up with a 19 Daytona Jet of equal hp, and handed the 19 it's ass! :cool

And, in light of my previous thread crap, let's get this thread back on track.

When Mike ordered this boat he checked all the right boxes.
Selections came together to produce an awesome package.

Congrats Mike. It looks bad ass.:thumbsup

My previous posts about the white engines....yeah, No.
The Black looks wicked.

The red accents on the engine stick out and could be replaced with green easily.

I didn't realize they were going to run it today.
Can't wait to hear what it ran.:thumbsup
