You have more patience than I do. Longest I’ve willed myself to keep a vehicle is 3.5 years. I’m trying to keep my current one a long time just to see if I can control myself.

I have friends like this and I wonder why I lack the self control to keep a vehicle more than 4 years! One of my buddies is just happy to drive his 25 year old beater around and doesnt care. He lives a simple life. I lack this feature. I guess I like the buzz of new shit!

I financed first one in 1995 for 5 yrs and ended up paying 54k for 23k truck(learned my lesson), wrote a check for this one and paid way less then the 54k total for barney. saving for something costs way less then financing something (instant gratification costs) now think of all the $20 a year registrations for Barney vs all the 200,300,700 registrations for new cars every couple years and that chit adds up quick

Still driving the 2nd and 4th trucks I've bought. Haven't bought anything since. Both are 2002 7.3's bought in used in 2009 and 2011. 288K and 467K miles now. Payments on a second house sounds more practical than a new truck payment so I'm gonna keep driving these. Started driving in 2005.

I love it when people are like resale value bro. I'm thinking why would I be concerned about resale value if I'm keeping this thing for 20+ years and putting 500K miles on it and probably more. Options and resale value don't mean much at that point. I'm not buying it to sell within a year at a discount to someone else. Then I get called crazy for keeping a vehicle longer than 5 years.

Registration and insurance is the big cost on trucks not the interest for Me. Old trucks are only a few hundred less a year than the new ones. Weight fees in CA are same regardless of year.

properly optioned XL for me, locking diff's, upfitter switches, tow and power package. less then 100days from order to delivery, anything above a XLT gasser and your about 9 months plus out for delivery

Last year for the Cleveland was 1974 . It was replaced by the 351M . Windsor came out in 1980 .

Windsor have been around since the 1962 model year, and first introduced in only Fairlanes in their 221ci format. Ford went on to build Windsors in 221, 260, 289, 302, and 351 ci variants. Although first manufactured in Fords Windsor, Ontario plant, production was quickly moved to the Cleveland, Ohio plant. Ford ceased production of the Windsor platform in the US in the 2002 model year with the last 302/5.0 being outfitted exclusively only in properly optioned Explorers. They lived a bit longer in standard production down under and were also the platform for the limited production 427ci/7.0L used in the Saleen S7s throughout their production.

Windsors are my engine of choice.

new paint, headliner and a few repairs then up for sale. barney only has 140kmi on a 351ci and as far as ride quality between the two Barney wins hands down
27 years and only 140K miles? Shit.....thats two years for me....lol Well.....my pace has slowed down a lot over the last two years but man....

Yep . The 400 was out first and changed to a 351 to replace the Cleveland .

I think mine was a Falcon Sprint. Black on black, with the close ratio 4 speed. Now that is the car I miss most. :(

In high school a buddy had a 70 Mercury Cougar XR7 with some strange options.
2V 351 C and a manual 3 speed.
It moved out pretty well considering the highway flyer ring and pinion.
Visalia to Anaheim on about 3/4 tank of gas, with the AC on.

I put the first 90k on it in the first 4 years before moving to Havasu so it took 23years to get the last 50k on it....... LOL and yes I used it just about every day....Havasu is a small place ;)
