Anyone have info on performing a walk through conversion on a 27' Ultra Shadow mid cuddy open bow? Boat is a 2005.

I've seen a few around, and it "looks" to be a fairly straight forward process.

Is it as simple as cutting out/ removing the walk through section, Installing marine grade plywood supports, and then upholstering the supports?

As much as I hate to modify the boat, the crawl through is just a pain in the ass.

Recommended shops?
Approximate cost?
Structural integrity loss?

Thanks for your input.

Where are you located? There are plenty of people that can handle that and have experience doing it, seems either a boat manufacturer or upholstery shops do the better jobs.

Bump on this because I want to do the same thing to my 05 27 shadow!
Whatever you do, don‘t use Ultra. Rusty is not the best on meeting deadlines these days.

Maybe Saleen in Havasu, WOT in Carlsbad or KMG in San Diego. KMG was a sub contractor when Ultra was owned by JW in SD. Kevin did all the painted rub-rails.

Is ultra even operational at this point?

No idea. I lost all trust in Rusty after a few issues were identified this year after I had Rusty redo my sponsons 2020. Materials used in 2020 were not right

If you’re a boat company and not be cranking out boats the last 3 years something is wrong with the operation. Look at every building that does nice cats/deckboats. They’re killing it. The company’s doing v’s on the west coast aren’t doing as much. Ultra should have knocked it out of the park.

Boat manufactures that had a solid GM who was social killed it over the last few years. When Andrew was at Ultra, things were turning around. Andrew left, shit went south fast. Rusty does not like to talk. You have to talk to folks to sell them products. He might talk to you to get a deposit, but then you are out of luck and maybe get text messages.
