Growing up going to Parker and Havasu, and since moving to North Idaho, it's one of the things my wife and I both miss. So the past few years we've been making it down for her families annual vacation. Yesterday we started what turned out to be quite a trek to get to Havasu instead of a couple quick flights like we planned/hoped for.

We left the house just after 1PM to head to Spokane for our 3:50 flight and on the way we received notification that our second flight from Phoenix to Vegas was delayed. Why we can't get a direct flight to Vegas just blows my mind, but it is what it is. We already had a 3 hour layover, so more delay just really put a damper on this part of the trip. I decided to look into maybe just grabbing the rental car in Phoenix instead of Vegas, but being on a tight budget(I was laid off in July) the cost was prohibitive. No way was I going to pay over triple our reservation. So extra long layover ahead, we trudged on.

Spokane to Phoenix was uneventful except for a crying baby the whole time, Luckily I can tune that out, the Mrs, not so much. 🤣

When we got to Phoenix we started looking for a bite to eat, and since we moved, there are a few food places I really miss. In-n-Out is one and Chic-Fil-A is the other. My wife spotted a Chic-Fil-A and knew that was where we were going to end up. With delicious chicken in our belly's, it was time to settle in while we waited for our next flight.

Boarding time finally arrived and they announced it was a completely full flight, thankfully we had "A" boarding passes. Everyone's now boarded but they're not closing the doors, WTH? They finally came on the overhead to let us know that the first officer was pulled off of our flight to another one and we were now waiting for his replacement. Another hour goes by and he finally arrives. By this time the plane had been disconnected from the external A/C for the entire hour, even at night you can imagine the sauna that turned into. Finally pushed back from the gate and on our way to Vegas, 3 hours later than we were supposed to be!

Vegas Baby! It's now midnight and I've been up since 5, no way are we sticking with the plan to drive in to Havasu. So last minute hotel it is. All we wanted at this point was air conditioning and some clean sheets, and that's all we got! Grab the rental car and off to the hotel we go.

Woke up this morning after a few hours and we're off to Havasu!

Thankfully the drive in was uneventful, but felt so good when we got here:

Spent the afternoon catching up with my FIL and an old friend before heading down with my nephews to walk the channel this evening hoping to see some nice boats.

Rental car got upgraded to a convertible Mustang, so we had to drop the top, at least for a little while.

i must say I was surprised how dead the channel was this evening. I remember Friday evenings getting pretty busy. I'm assuming that maybe some schools are already back in session.

Looking forward to being on the lake the next few days before we make the trek back home. We'll be heading up river in this. Wave if you see us.

Speaking of waving, I've found that maybe it's just a "river" thing because no one on the lakes in Idaho waves.

Awesome but hot day on the water. We went upriver and found a beach on ther CA side south of Topoc and enjoyed the sights and sounds of boats going by. Myphone overheated so i was only able to get a few pics.

Today was the first boat ride for our great-niece, and she loved it.

A nice big center console up by Pirates, these are pretty much non-existent on our lakes. It’s all wakeboard, pontoons, and runabouts.

And a little jet boat running up river when we were headed back towards the channel. These are few and far between as well.

We ended the day in the channel for a bit and turns out we were next to @El Chingon . Nice to meet him and his crew! No pics because of the phone issue.

Looking forward to another day on the water tomorrow.

Well, day two was more of the same, hot and mostly uneventful.

We noticed the bilge was getting more water than usual, which my FIL says is usually none even with everyone in and out of the boat.

We thought maybe the bellows as we didn’t see anything leaking on the motor. After a bit of looking around the motor while running I found the leak. Apparently a common issue with certain years of 496ho’s. The water lines with the plastic fittings and o-rings going into the cool fuel module.

Waiting to see what the FIL wants to do, if we’re going to fix it, have it fixed, or just run it and keep an eye on it. We may be boatless for the wife and I’s last day in town.

FIL says he’s too old to fix it himself, he also needs some maintenance done.

Recommendations on who to take the boat to for a fix?

@25Elmn8r Nice meeting you and your Crew. Other than the guy rolling in to try and decapitate us. Sorry a wave and a smile would have gone a long way to come in and park. That guy was a pure dumbass! Safe travels back to Idaho.
