Saw that one great price, but the price is reflective of the engine. I think it had a 7.4 in it, thats only 310 hp, not a whole lot to make that boat work properly, kind of defeats the whole point of having a cat.

Agree. That boat will be lucky to see 60mph.

Mine? the 300 Drag? Haven't had a chance to run it yet! Been doing alot of riding in the desert with the X3 this year! Excited to get her on the river. Im storing it in Needles this year to explore.

I emailed but got no response. I think I could flip it for a profit after a couple of changes

My 99 25 open bow double step has a 7.4, max speed with 3 people, and full tanks is 59 mph. Never tried to run it light load and all that crap. With more people in the boat it takes a bit to plane. I'm in parker 90% of the time so I dont really notice how slow I am until I go to Havasu. That being said, I wouldn't buy another one with anything less than a 496 HO, buying new would be 400s or a 565

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but at 59mph does a 25 Daytona pack air? My understanding is that there's a transition that happens from on plane to lifting the boat with air entrapment.

No, that hull is shy of doing what it was designed to do by 15-20 mph.

I'm so sick of you guys saying these Daytona's are underpowered if they have less 800 H.P. Is it going to do 100 m.p.h....no, will it break 60...probably. That's fast enough for some people and if it's not swap out the motor or buy another boat. I get that the hull doesn't pack air until 75-80 m.p.h. but some of you cat owners maybe forgot what it was like to ride in a v-hull with the waves coming in at quarter angle and having the side to side motion of the boat where the cat just skips across it....even at 60 m.p.h. The cat is a MUCH smoother ride even at low speeds...first thing most girls said when they rode in mine is that their tits didn't bounce around as much.;)

I just want the SOB to plane under 10 seconds and get on my way. Chaps my ass to sit there nose up feeling like the back end is sinking. Also hate to ask friends to sit somewhere else so we can get the sled moving. Bad ass speed boat that won't get on plane is ridiculous.

One thing to look for, I replaced my transom on mine the exhaust holes were not glassed in and water had rotted it away. Not saying this boat has that issues, but something to look for

So most think this is underpowered, but who thinks its overpriced??? I could see my next boat purchase being this exact boat, it has everything that I want already. I have to imagine that this is easier (cheaper) to insure and probably easy to get use to driving. I actually wish I had some money to free up!

It’s priced right, more power and it would be mid 40’s, just sold my 98 for 45k.

Exactly. I had the 454 MPI in my Ultra. I looked at all options. Leave it stock will last forever. Only motor I have ever owned where the oil looked as good coming out as it did going in even after 400 hours and 10 years.

The 454 / 7.4 have a smaller bore than the 502 motors, and didn't suffer from the out-of-round cylinder issues that the 502's have. The 502's drink oil as they were not torque-plate honed and the bores are out of round, combined with a low tension "metric" ring package. The 502 GM crate motors from GM suffer the same issues.

Overpriced? 33k is cheap for a 25ft boat, especially an Eliminator Daytona. That said, you’ve have to look it over really well in person & talk to the owner & get a feel for how the boat has been cared for & maintained over the last 20+yrs, however it looks very nice. If someone is buying that boat to make that 7.4L faster, then they’re buying the wrong boat. That engine & drive isn’t designed for that purpose, so they’ll need to up there budget to 75k+ & get into the Mercury Racing 500EFI, 525EFI etc. packages w/Bravo XR’s & full IMCO Steering.

I agree, thought it was a good deal as well. There was some sarcasm in my first sentance, because everyone has something to say lol
