The 2024 Damn Dam Run Executive Committee is pleased to announce the date for this year's event has been set in stone (well, maybe in quick-sand).

Gather up your calendars and mark them all for August 03, 2024. 9:00am at the bouys at Katherine's Landing, 10:00am at the bouys at Cottonwood Cove (this group outta be on the water and ready by 9:30am just in case).

Then uplake with a couple of stops along the way (Zec Com will not announce these stops.....you're on your own to figure out when a buncha boats stop and raft up for a break).

As in the past, the 'Zec Com takes no responsibilites for shirts, drinks, meals, drinks, reservations, drinks, moorage, drinks, BBQ's, drinks, oversleeping captains, drinks, ice, drinks, sunburns, drinks, bad attitudes, drinks, sinkings, drinks, launch ramp lines, drinks or drinks.

A Damn Dam Run sign up thread will follow when the 'Zec Com deems necessary.

That is all........

Crazy to think this will be out 11th year doing this. I can’t believe the boats that old, it’s still like brand new

I’d really like to do it this year with our sled. Wonder if we can make it from Katherine’s to the damn and back on 80 gallons or would need a fuel up at cottonwood.

I was just thinking about this run myself, and the same questions about fuel.

I topped off and ran from the marina, to the springs, back to the marina. And a subsequent day from the marina to the needles bridge and back and I’m showing 1/4 tank in both tanks (80 gallons total as well). No clue as to the mileage as it compares to this run.

Videos of this from years past look awesome and I think we’re in this year.

I know we can go from riviera to springs back to riviera then up to pirate and back. I feel my fuel remaining deal isn’t accurate on the Nordic because how it sits with the outboards it’s not close to level 😂.

I don’t know my boat well enough yet to know how accurate the gauge is. I was shitting my pants when it said 1/4 tank because I’ve had boats that were empty by that point 🤦🏻‍♂️

Yeah don’t fear the run. Fill up at Cottonwood, or if you can go a little further, at Willow. Either going up or going back.

It’s about 62 miles one way from Katherine’s to the dam.

For our 30, I ran up from Katherine’s on a full load, filled up at Willow and proceeded up to the dam and then headed back and made it to Katherine’s just fine.

We run a TCM1200QR so it’s thirsty.

I think we are at least 80 galllons.

We have twin 400 outboards so sip a little less as long as not running it hard.

THEORETICALLY...
You used 60 gallons for 107 miles
That's 1.783 mpg. GIVE OR TAKE.

So, for the Damn Dam run, at 124 miles, you'd use 69.5 gallons.

With the 1/3 up, 1/3 back, 1/3 reserve rule, I'd put in about 25 gallons along the way.

Even with my squirt bote, I'd fill one side, about 25 gallons, cruising. Holds 50. 2.5 mpg. for the same trip.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that. I was curious as the mileage I ran, and I forgot where to find that info in terms of Havasu and the river.

I could always be that guy and run out of gas. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I’ll plan on topping off one side along the way.

Find out where the level sensor is. On my 22 it’s all the way in the back. So when it’s 1/2 tank it’s basically empty.

River miles chart. But it goes down the state line. I added a few miles for the springs, from goggles maps.

International boundary with Mexico to Glen Canyon dam.

Running pretty hard up last year and went to the Davis dam after had about 15 gallons left of 100. But Regor and i were running in the 90’s and i hit 100 a few times headed north. Year before we used about 70 gallons and ran 60’s.

I also before last seasons run stopped at Willow one day headed home from Vegas and it was only about $0.75 a gallon more than land pumps so it’s not bad.

Sounds like I’ll stop at cottonwood or willow if we can make it and maybe put 15 gallons in each side if needed to be safe

Are the majority of you guys running fast or cruising. My wife has never been to this part of the river and I think she would have a blast

Whether it’s any event I’ve ever been too. Cars, motorcycles and boats. Cruising is different to everyone. My friend did the Mohave ram run couple weeks ago and said, “yeah we were crusing at 100 for a bit. “

I never looked at the fuel levels in my Nordic, on the Vessel View I set it to show the fuel used for each engine and based my fuel level off of that.

If its not, one of the best things about the dam run is the water gets cold AF near the dam, so jump in, but do it with a life vest on and man that water feels good when its hot out!

I did my run in July. I guess I got lucky, the basin was smooth both ways. I was kinda hoping it'd get rough so I could put the 30 Eagle through its paces, but it was just smooth.

Stop all you want and jump in if you need to cool off. Just get off to the side so you're not in the running lanes.

about 25 years ago we had family with a mobile at Willow Beach. I would ride my jet ski up to the dam in a wet suit in August. I think its 55 degrees year round

Other advantage, you go past Willow on the way to dam then again on way back, so you’ll see if you actually need fuel. It always takes less on the way back as well down river.

This still going on?

Is parking boat over night at Riverside legit? Don't want to see my boat on Straight Up Bullhead.
I've seen plenty of big momey boats parked in the lot. Never heard an issue.
