So let me start out by saying this is not an official thread but more of a feeler. I know it's still very early but I wanted to start getting an idea of what's going on. Last year havasu hank took charge but after speaking w him he hadn't put much thought into this year. If someone wants to take the lead that's cool I don't want to step on anyone's toes, but since it's my home lake and favorite event I'm not going to let it go away. So if the members don't mind me taking charge I will start planning. It's always either the first or second week of august and I wouldn't plan on changing it. I'm starting this thread early so I can decide if I'm going to do shirts. Dave offered to help me and it's a lot of work so the sooner I can get an official thread the better. Or if someone wants to jump in and take charge I'd be more than willing to help. Anyways just thought I'd start a thread to get some talk about it going.

I'm open for discussions that's why I wanted to start the thread early. I know all previous years it's been 1st or 2nd week as I know Carl's birthday was always around that time. I'd like a big turn out though so whatever accommodates more people

Sounds like a good time. Being in august I think I might need to wait one more year for my three year old.

I've been wanting to take Eli every ear but it's a pretty long boat ride and turns into a full day. I think osb has done it with his young kids though. Eli will almost be 4 so maybe this year

Go for it Vic. [emoji106]

There's a 90% chance I'll be in Hawai'i sometime in August anyways. I'd hate to take the reigns on this again ... only to not be able to go afterall if I won't be in town.

Make CC proud. Last years vibe went exactly how everyone involved wanted it. Nothing extravagant ... just chilling out having a great time to honor an old friend of ours.[emoji482]

The wife and I were just discussing this the other night wondering when it would be so we can reserve our room early.

I'll have my guys design the shirts for you Vic and we can handle all the logistics of that. It's a pain in the ass if you aren't setup for it.

Hoping to have my Poontoon by then!

Sounds like a coup attempt to take over as mayor before the election.[emoji57][emoji16]

I am interested. I booked a room last year and planned on coming, family illness held us back. Don Johnson always speaks highly of this event and has told me how fun it has been for him. We love hanging the Johnson crew by the way, super fun boating couple... We are interested, depending on the dates chosen. The Big Cat Poker Run is August 11 & 12th this year and that is on our bucket list too.

if you are planning on running a toon up to the dam, you better plan on leaving two weeks ahead of us.

Yes unfortunately they aren't super fast. :(
We did the run this past year. We only cruise just below 40 mph. A modern toon will get you to those speeds and you will do just fine. Just plan on the whole day when you include the float stops. We came back across the basin as the sun was going down, it was awesome!!

The second week probably wouldn't be the best week considering the Catalina ski race is august 12 and I know a lot of people on here go to that race

Can you give us newbie's a break down of the run?

Is this more of a day run or a weekend type event ?
How many miles?
Is it best to get a room if you have a house in Havasu? Extra long day.... a lot of driving/towing...
if you do get a room where? Laughlin?

Not familiar with Mohave what about gas/fuel and then food?
Does everybody just pack food or do you all have an official lunch spot, stop?

How many hrs does this typically take traveling at 35-40 average speed?

Thanks for posting this VIC!

My wife and I were just talking this morning about possible doing this on our own and doing an over nighter, sleeping on the boat or a beach and grilling a tri tip for dinner .... we have never been up on Mohave this sounds like fun!

Run with it and
Thank you!
Doug

Make sure your fueled up to the top ! and bring food.
There are marinas if you need to refuel coming back .
My 26ft made it back with 1/4 of gas in both of the tanks .
I stayed at the hotel at Katherine landing .This year I will be towing from Havasu

This sounds like a great time!

Start out fuel of fuel get gas at cottonwood marina (first stop ) you can go all the way to the dam and stop back at cottonwood for a fill up and you'll be good to go that's what I have to do in my jet bote. I have 2 ,20 gallon tanks and cruise right at 40 mph it's one of the funnest runs you'll ever do

Ellen and I wouldn't miss this event. The CCMDR is a great weekend. We were tbere last year even though the boat was broke, bbq crowd at Katherines was a blast, I'm still having nightmares.
Please pick a date asap, I'm booking a room at katherines so i can get a slip. Tge launch ramp got particularly entertaining around 8 last year.
We're in!

Ok so it's looking like either the first or third weekend of aug? The run is right around 60 miles each way. We leave from kathrines landing around 10 and get to cottonwood between 10:30-11. From there we take several stops to pull over and chill. There's no set locations or time frames. When we get to willow we float around through the no wake and wait for the group. From there it's a quick I want to say 12 miles to the dam. I want to say it takes less than two hours. We float around at the dam and people break off at their own pace. We usually stop at a beach on he way back and hang out and eat lunch. From there it's up to you. Usually a stop in gas alley before heading back in. Last year there was a BBQ at the motel which was a lot of fun. Great to hang out and let the kids play. I do remember walking Dow. To the dock and watching for a while. All good input keep the suggestions coming. My place is on McCormick basically as close as you can be to the lake. I have extra parking or whatever

Our first and only time was in 2014. North part of the lake has some of the most beautiful scenery :thumbsup

Would love to do this again!

I made this run last year. It was a good time and met a lot of great people. I hope to make it again this year and am anxiously wating to see what day is picked. August is a tough month with both my son and I having birthdays.

Don't make the name too short.. You want people to be able to see it on the shirt.. lol..

Can't we just call it the damn run and then down below put "In memory of Campbell Carl".

If you make that the actual name of the deal CCMDR. and spell all that out it's gonna get kinda difficult.

I was thinking the same thing about fitting it on shirts. another possibility is "Campbell Car Damn Run"

I just called Katherine's landing and booked a room at the little hotel for the first weekend and second weekend the 3rd and 10th of August. I'll cancel whichever weekend is going to be the off weekend. She said they're wide open as of right now if anyone wants to get a room. I got a slip as well for an extra 30 bucks a night. So I'll arrive by Thursday and stay through Sunday I've got a room right next to the broken down Coke machine. With taxes it works out to about $136 a night. Not bad for this kind of a sweet weekend.

Would you tow your boat up from parker and back after the run? Mine is stored at my house in Parker and the tow there and back is the only thing making me hesitate. How long is the tow from Parker to Mohave?
