Every time when first starting to move forward when towing my boat, pretty heavy, there are 2 loud whistles, squeals, hard to describe, then no more noises after that and the truck sounds normal. This does not happen when the truck is not towing a load. I saw it had a couple 299 codes also. I think it might be a turbo air leak but not sure. Thanks

Could it be the tounge of the trailer? Some have a movement which controls the trailer brakes.

On my trailer you can feel the brake unit relax when you start moving forward. The wear pattern says its about an inch. You might be hearing it on yours.

Good or bad, I have many years of towing/driving junk so I tend to be acutely aware of the details like that. It kind of became a survival skill. Now when I am not driving or towing junk, I still notice all the little stuff.

Can you borrow a friends truck and do an isolation test? Isolating out vehicle contribution or maybe have a mechanic or knowledgeful friend sit in the bed to listen to discern where the noise is actually coming from? Strange vehicle noises suck, my 04 dmax developed a new one yesterday at abt. 65mph, sounds like maybe turbo bearing squeel? idk, but sure made for a anxious hr. ride home. I hope you can get yours resolved soon, easily etc. good luck.

Since it's only when you tow your boat, did you have someone else move the truck when you stand next to your boat trailer to see if you can isolate the sound?
