whats the must do's and don'ts...4'' turbo back???
Thanks, I had my mechanic check it out before I bought it,he said about the same thing... first thing he checked was the oil dip stick... then also told me that some one had just changed the injectors and water pump... also said it should be done every 100k...I gonna do some exhaust today...probley a 4'' turbo back system..truck really seems tight and runs real well..every one will just laugh when I say what happened right after I bought this truck...so I'll just save the story.... but my fortune sure causes me misfortune...shits multiplying like rabbits at my home 20....fuuuuuuk, can't win...Make sure the injectors and fuel lines are good.....LB7 were great setups but plagued by injector failure, and they are the only model duramax motors that did not isolate the injectors from the engine oil. When they fail they fill the crank case with diesel fuel. Supposedly The injectors fail because the inside of the fuel lines / rails start flaking apart and send metal into them. Not sure if that’s the only reason but that’s what I’ve heard.
4 inch turbo back is perfect. I ran Flo pro on mine. Threw a water pump in at 115k. Also a quart of two stroke every tank as well s an ounce of XDP's additive.
What's the 2 stroke oil do?
Lubricates the injector pump and injectors. Uls diesel does not lubricate without the sulfurWhat's the 2 stroke oil do?
I totally disagree. If his just had the injectors replaced like he was told, that thing will be good for a long, long time. New style injectors are solid. Oil in the fuel as mentioned above and good to go.Shit year because of problems with injection. Run for the Hills.
what made you say that???Hey 2ff whats the story after you bought it? Did you fill it with gas?
you guys wouldn't even believe what I did....stopped by ram and bought a new truck....lol
And smoke like a mofo at idle.I totally disagree. If his just had the injectors replaced like he was told, that thing will be good for a long, long time. New style injectors are solid. Oil in the fuel as mentioned above and good to go.
The bad injectors don’t blow the engine up. It will run and idle like crap until you replace them. It’s a failure that is a pain, but won’t typically leave you stranded unless you aren’t paying attention for a couple weeks.

Wait - had to check the post date on this thread twice....so I stopped by the ram store... just to look at the blue rams that match sues boat...they have them 15k off window sticker… so I call sue...she comes over and buys the matching blue big horn ram...pretty cool truck.....we just got back from havasu, camera battery's dead....I'll take a pic soon as it 's done charging...
That's a bummer. Issue with the vent? That ram is a 5.7 right?so now we have 4 trucks...3 are getting sold tomorrow..that and the chapparal is sold... so back to just the ram and the cheetah.....lol..we were ready to trade in the vegas rv yesterday on a diesel pusher...we were coming across the desert and there was a big cross wind... what happened was the bathroom roof vent was wide open and the wind was blowing hot air in the rv... couldn't get it any cooler than 100 degrees... the look my wife was giving me when the fan kicked in and it dropped 2 gears was priceless..
