Never heard of this boat before. If truly a one off it may be of interest to someone.

Up for sale is my 1970 ABT Hydro's of Fontana CA 19 foot shovelnose Hydro jet boat. Original and always a So. Cal boat. From what I have been told, this is the only one known to exist. All original including gel coat and interior. I purchased this a few years ago with the intent of putting it back on the water. Equipped with a Ford 7.5L 460. I believe this engine was a brand new Ford crate engine installed around 1976. It has 85 hours. Unfortunately, I believe the son of the original owner obtained the boat, didn't cover it properly, and rain intrusion came in through the carb. Engine has been completely disassembled and inspected. It is "as-new" inside, but the rain water has caused pitting in 3 cylinders, which will require cutting or sleeves installed. The rest of the engine is excellent. The Berkeley is in great shape. Has twin rear built in fuel tanks. Original custom trailer with extendable tongue as she will have to float over the fenders. The overall condition is original and excellent. There is some gel coat minor crazing and some fading on the front due to the previous owner not fully covering it. Still looks excellent and can be brought back to match the rest, I am sure.
The interior is all original and in good shape, but needing carpet and some of the seat wood replaced. Some sun fading and aging, but overall very usable for 1970 upholstery. Boat really needs a complete going through and re-sealing before floating. This is a rare opportunity to restore a one of a kind piece of history. At the time of purchase and after removal and inspection of the engine, the engine was re-assembled with proper assembly lube and re-installed. I have had the boat properly stored with my classic car collection for several years. If you have any information on this boat, I would love to hear it. As far as I know, it was the only one built by ABT and the only fiberglass shovelnose Hydro with cafe seating I can find, anywhere! A once in a lifetime opportunity for the classic jet boat collector/ restorer. Comes with clean California title for the boat and trailer. Trailer is black plate original.
Not really sure how to price this so $9,000.00 OBO CASH Send me any questions or info, I would be glad to answer them to the best of my ability.

This would be a good home:

🤣
It's uglier than this D&H hydro but not near as ugly as the Witch.

I think its cool. Not for me but cool none the less.

I have always wondered how a jet hydro would work. kind of opposing theories. Hydro rides above the water on the sponsons and air but the jet suction port needs to be in the water. 🤷‍♂️

The first Hallet jet boats were built that way. Down rail transom like an early flat bottom. somewhere very slight V and some were even flat bottoms. I think the theory was to move the motor forward to keep the balance forward to keep the pump in the water, didn’t work very well. They un loaded easily. you will see them, it looks like a split bowl with a transom in between the bowl and the nozzle.
I can’t imagine that that one works at all. With the sponson’s trying to lift the front of the boat unless it has a Center pod.

You can see much, but the only thing there, just under the water is the nozzle. It had fixed cavitation plates as well. It handled well but rode pretty rough as it was almost a flat Bottom. Ralph Mills blueprinted the pump and with some minor engine work it ran about 60. This was a 19.5 69 Hallett, built like a tank with 2x8 stringers. There was a thread on here several years ago and someone was moving the pump back in one, but don't think they ever finished the thread.
