prices on caddies are all over the place... Instagram has a page called Cadillac sales might be able to gauge from there or find one at a better price. i missed out by 30 mins on a triple black 64 drop top caddy loaded up that was on that Cadillac page

I sold my 65’ convertible about ten years ago. I miss her. it was just so much fun to cruise.

ps. Yes the prices are all over the board. Almost no rhyme or reason. Just need the right buyer.

Most Caddy’s are all over the board because of all the available trim levels, series, and limited production cars. Color combos are also a big part of it as it spoke to who the owner/driver was.

My 66’ is a triple black car. It wasn’t originally that but at some point in its restoration it was made that as they’re highly desirable.

The red and white color combo is the Sunday church crawler. It can be desirable to the right person. 60’s Lac’s are on the rise though. As much as I love my caddy’s I wouldn’t be in the market for that model but if it’s a basic coupe deville with minimal rust I’d list it anywhere between $20k-$30k and see if you get any bites. The answer is in the vin # and the body/frame condition. Check behind the front wheel well and the rear window deck lid area. 64’s are notorious for hidden rust issues there.

I sold my 64’ 10 years ago in about the same condition but bagged on 20” wires for $20k.

Unless you have buckets of money you'd like to part with...

Take a pass. Not kidding.

You’re thinking of Lincoln’s. I’ve owned a lot of classic caddy’s and they’re by far the easiest. The Lincoln Continental’s of the same era, especially the verts, are mechanical money pits. I wouldn’t own another Lincoln unless I totally gutted every wire out of it and started from scratch.

Nope. Somehow I was found by the Caddy crowd when I was working at Retts.

I made a good chunk of money working on those cars. But it was hardly worth the effort.

I could tell you horror stories for hours.

And you are correct...

The early Lincoln's are nightmares too! 😜

I had a really smart neighbor growing up. Lived in his garage, mechanical guy. Built custom offroad stuff, complicated stuff, wasnt afraid of wiring.

He bought a Continental. Worked on the wiring for about 6 months, just struggled the whole time. There was so much shit that was not working. I watched full burnout, he sold it pissed off and worn out, with all the wiring hanging out everywhere.

I have bought, and sold, 2 project Continentals without ever finishing. I will not need a 3rd times a charm....there is a very good reason they pull such big money when fully restored.

I passed on it, since I couldn’t put my eyes on it, it’s age and the things I learned here. Thank you guys. I am taking his 2018 f150 though, so we shall see. Seems like a good guy.

Really why

I've worked on a number of those cars. The bill was Always huge. Parts (IF you can find em) are VERY expensive. Finding someone who knows what they are doing is even more expensive and harder to find.

Not sure how old you are, but..

Back in the old days, people's driveways were two strips of concrete, with dirt or grass in the middle. Why? Cause EVERY car leaked oil like a sieve. From where you ask? Everywhere! Engine, trans, p/s, diff, you name it. You'll spend huge money just fixing leaks!!!

Getting the AC to work reliably? Expensive.

Getting a convertible top to work reliably? Expensive.

Power windows? Good luck! Lol

Power seats? Good luck getting those to stay working.

Finding a guy that can rebuild hydramatic transmission? I know of ONE guy. Others SAY they can do it, but the trans will Never shift right again. Ask me how I know.

Suspension parts? I can hear the cash register ringing from here! 😁

You are talking about a 60 year old vehicle. It' been molested a 1000 times. Gawd knows what hack jobs have been done to it in 60 years. You'll find out quick if you buy it though! But by then it will be too late.

7mpg is awesome at six bucks a gallon too. Price out those cool white wall tires. You'll be in for a big surprise.

None of my caddy’s cost anywhere near the maintenance of my boats so the expensive part you mention is a relative term. Especially when discussing expenses on a forum that exists for people who ONLY have expendable income to use on things like.... boats lol

You want parts for cheap and easy I have a dozen places I can find what I need in minutes.

Yeah man, Lincoln’s are brutal to own and I’ll never have another unless it’s fully restored with upgraded wiring and LS swapped. It’s almost like NASA designed their electrical, fucking nightmare.

My Cadillacs I’m a purist and refuse to LS swap them. 50’s and 60’s Cadillac power sounds like a sewing machine when idling. They’re amazing vehicles when cared for.

There are definitely repop parts available. As you say...

Costs are a relative term. 😉

Caddy Daddy is loaded with OEM parts. Most aren’t even on the website. Where you get into re-pop is body, body trim, and chassis stuff. Motor, electronics, interior is plenty.

I'll keep that in mind for my next life. I'm all good being retired! 😁

Thats a beast.... I recall my pops first Cadi was a new '68 Coupe DeVille.... I was 9 and loved to wash that muthafukka... it was so wide I had to climb onto it just to get to the middle. We grew up on big acreage so me and my siblings, cousins etc all grew up driving these Cadis of his as kids.... they could pull some good donuts in a flat grassy field! Dad always commented after we'd be gone awhile; "Boy whats burning... smells like grass and rubber?"

Yep. We both know the drill Very well.

And yet, nobody listens. 🤷‍♂️

I'll call you about doing the EFI on the Stoker. Probably be in January or so.

Maybe you can come to Mike's shop and tune it up on the Dyno, and I can install everything later? Just a thought. We got lots of time to plan.
