Same here except I went north on the 71.
I haven’t been that way in a while. I’m glad to see they started this.

First time I saw it was probably '82. Coming home from Ensenada in a sky blue Fairmont...I'd guess we were cutting up the 71? Really cool to see. In Cali of all places, a tribute to history is being saved from being lost to history

So that used to be a Robertson redimix location I think, I wonder if they did it?

It was put up to mark the site of the proposed Veterans cemetery.

That is one of the memorable landmarks when I used to drive out as a kid with my parents. I would always look for the dam.

They should of hired the MTA crew to restore the painting, they have done bigger pieces like that in the past.

My grandmother lived in Redlands, Saturdays as a kiddo we drove past the dam all the time. Dam good

You know how happy I am that they didn’t make its fkin League of Nations and oppressed people mural lol I literally got so happy when I saw it yesterday.

I've been in Chino my whole life, 47 years now.

We used to fish down there with da' Mexicans .
Before they ruined the river by pouring concrete.
Those guys would never hesitate to offer us 10 year old kids a cold beer!!
And
When the north side of that Dam would flood out.
We would peddle our bikes down the shoulder of the 71fwy early in the morning.
Blow up little 2 man rafts and spend the entire day exploring the that whole Prado area.
It was like being in another world to us little kids.
We packed food, canteens, ropes, machetes, bb guns.
It was awesome!

Then, when it started to get dark.
We would peddle our ass's home as fast as we could, to hit that front door before the street lights came on.

Some of my best kid memories happened down there in dem parts.

It's sad that kids can't do that kind of shit anymore.

I used to live in YL and work in Corona. I passed this every day. Im happy that the mural is being restored, but it saddens me that when looking at the list of sponsors/participants, they are all businesses and older persons organization. Where is the youth and their pride of American freedom?


Also, since no one else is going to say it. Another 3 years and they couldve changed it to 250years
