… Lost another friend… Jack would be most familiar to some of the people on the forum …as the original upholstery guy from Full Custom Garage on TVz…

… In his 20s he was a crew member for Chris the Greek Karamasines… After that he was a crewman for Don Schumaker in Don Schumacher’s Funny Car driving days…

… When Jack moved to California… He became the upholstery guy for George Barris.,.

… Ate dinner with he and the Judge almost nightly for quite a few years at the Old Time café in Sin Valley…

… Jack had been battling Covid for a couple of months…

… Thought I had some better pictures… But I guess I dont ???…

…. Jack was in his early 80s… Thinking 81???…RIP Jack… you were a good guy…

I enjoyed hearing him explain his vision for the Econoline truck.

Sorry to hear he’s gone.

RIP to another car guy. The Friday night car cruise at the Ruby's in the Whitwood Mall reminds me of the old timers that were the 30-40 year olds tearing up the boulevard. A few look like they are having their grand done drive the old hot rod. Great to see, but means I'm getting old also.

… When I first met him at the Old Time… And he told me that he was on fill custom garage… I watched a few episodes shortly there after… The next time I saw him I told him …you could’ve been an actor… he told me that when he came back to California in addition to doing upholstery for George Barris… That he had gone to acting school for a few years…👍

These old Trimmers are true wizards. I bought a commercial sewing machine a couple of years ago thinking this shit cant be that hard, my wife knew how to sew, it didn't look hard, and hey there are lots of YouTubes on how to do it...WRONG. That damn sewing machine is nothing more than a high power reciprocating needle looking to stitch its way through one of my fingers (it easily has the power to do so). The skills required to execute the basics of trimming are substantial. The ability to make it look great is pure art.

Gods speed Jack.

… very true… I have always been envious of anybody that could do automotive upholstery…
… my friend Pedro at North Hollywood upholstery… Conversely is envious of us who can come up with a vision of what we we want done…

… The 3 window is a fiberglass body car…
… if you look at this photo you can see that there is a piece that goes up and over the drivers door… Well since the car is fiberglass it has a fiberglass insert where the upholstery goes… if it had been done in leather it could’ve been stretched and the piece of aluminum would not have been necessary… For the moment I can’t remember exactly why they were going to pull the aluminum piece and the headliner insert back out… Maybe because that aluminum piece makes it look a little hokey???
… I am not sure if Jack was able to get that issue resolved…before the Covid got a hold of him???…

… Here is the picture I was looking for… I’m guessing early 60s outside of George Barris shop …and that is Jack…the tall guy… his girlfriend and I can’t remember who the other person is???…

… The car is the Ford Futura that was Ford motor company‘s show car into the future…

… George Barris somehow acquired it… And it eventually became the original Batmobile…
