I picked up a 2023 Polaris Turbo R 4 Premium right around Thanksgiving. I had done a ton of research and thanks to @Bowtiepower00 thread and insight I settled with this car. This weekend was the first time I could put the car through its paces… I’m very impressed and happy.

I’m still getting used to all the features the car has and we will be heading to Gordon’s Well in a few weeks to see how it does in the dunes. It’s plenty fast for desert rides and I could see wadding it up if you weren’t careful.

I had been scouring IG for a cage that wasn’t the typical TMW/SDR brands as I wanted something unique. I liked the Voodoo cage and it was an option. I had seen a Brick City Fab cage in person and I liked the lines of it so that is what I settled on. I Also ordered the windshield, my last SXS didn’t have one.

I needed a bench seat as we have three kids, I went with Triple X seats and put my order in . We opted for heated front seats as they were a game changer in my past SXS.

Well the parts came in last week and we were able to get everything installed before my NYE trip to Jawbone Canyon.

I also settled on KC A pillar lights and a different set up on the rear chase lights, everyone is running a chase light bar. I opted for the KC Cyclones for a different look along with dome and rock lights. I was hesitant with the rock lights but after turning them on they will be valuable if I need to fix something at night. I hadn’t settled on a bumper yet. But we will add a pair of lights on the bumper as well. Due to the windshield I opted to stay away from a light bar as I heard you get a ton of glare. I also wanted to change up the styling. Light bars are kind of played out. I had the bungs for a light bar put in anyway in case I want to add one later.

PCI Comms weren’t in in time for the install so it is headed back on the 3rd to complete that.

I have a few more things planned. You guys are going to have to wait until the 10th of January to see the finished product. The build sheet
snowballed😎

Here is a few shots of how Julious turned out do far.

Looks Awesome Mike! Congrats!!

Take an extra belt if you head for the sand, and be mindful of the break in procedure.

The guys in my group will get 5 years out of a belt on the hard pack. In the sand, not so much!

And if you already know all this shit, just be like Larry and tell me to fuck off. 👍🏼

Congrats!

Nice work. Love the seats. Can’t wait to see the finished product. My neighbor has a BCF cage on his 2-seater, it’s a nice piece.

I need to update my thread, been chasing some major issues with my car, once I get my car back (again) and things dialed in I’ll update it.

Thank you. I do too. We are probably going to wrap it and I’m going to lose some orange but gain graphics.

The more I look at it now, it looks good the way it sits. I hope i don’t regret it.

😳. I’m curious to hear what you are going through.

I had changed my mind on seat design but they were already in production. I was going to ditch the white. It looks good and will tie in the rest of the car nicely when I’m done.

If it were me, I’d do orange beadlocks on cement grey wheels, pull the door stickers off and slap a couple new unique graphics or “partial wrap” in black and nardo grey on the doors insets and hood (where it says RZR in black) and call it good.

Are those aftermarket doors? I’m looking at the frame inside the door in one of the pics. It looks way better than what I’ve seen before.

Stock doors. The newer gen 2020+ Polaris RZR XP Pro and R cars are built pretty nice.

Definitely doing orange beadlocks on 33’s at some point. I just need to settle on a wheel.

I thought about pulliing the door stickers and calling it a day. The new doors just change the lines of the car for the better.

I wrapped my car. I prob won’t do it again as it has peeled in numerous areas having to use glue to stick it back down etc. also shows scratches etc to the vinyl.

Good to know… after how long did it start to peel away at the corners?

Bummer news to hear after going this route this year. Oh, well if the wrap goes bad there is always the upside of a call out thread. 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Well played Mike. It pays to have a plan and think it through. It looks great, and of course I will be watching for the finished (are we ever finished) product.

Also, no problems with my recent wraps. I have used Wolf Designs and ProLineWraps. I use a soap gun and I stay away from using a pressure washer on the surfaces that are wrapped. I also use a ceramic spray for maintenance (light dirt and dust).

Will you notice the desert racing stripes? Yes, maybe when you look closely but if/when it gets bad you can replace a section or just run it and redo it all with a fresh look for the next owner. I might suggest using a design that has some lines in it to help hide the desert racing stripes at first glance.

Luckily for me I know the owner of the wrap company, actually a fellow Hallett owner by coincidence. If I have any issues I'm sure he will help me out. I'm also not naïve to the fact that it's a sticker and will probably peel at some point.

I built and spec'd out the color options to be able to change the entire styling and colors of the car with a wrap. As much as I love the orange, I can go an entirely different direction just chose by re wrapping the car. Or just sell it and build another one! 🤣🤣

Great looking car! I have yellow Baja Design pod lights on my car, and to be honest I never even turn on the light bar anymore...your car looks great without the bar, I would leave it off....

Thank you! I’d like yellow pods to see if I like them better. I’m assuming I can buy a snap on lens. I don’t think I need the light bar either after going for a night ride last weekend. I agree it looks good without the light bar, sometimes the rake of the windshield and slope of the cage messes with the lines of the car and it needs a light bar…

Thank you! I went from, I’m leaving it alone and saving money to, fuck it. I want a custom build my way…

My last car I cut corners to save some money and i was never happy with it. It was just
‘’ok’’ ….

I saw a teaser shot of it today, I want to drive down to the shop to see it. The anticipation is killing me! 😳😎

I don’t think you need a high mount light bar either.

If those are Baja Design lights you can buy new lenses in amber or clear or new snap on covers in amber or clear.

These lights are expensive, but damn they work well.

You can get both amber lenses and amber covers for the Baja lights, I run both, the covers cut down on output somewhat compared to the lenses. There is still enough output with the covers installed, but there is a noticeable decrease.

My bumper mounted ambers are significantly more effective in heavy dust than my hood mounted amber bar. In lighter dust there isn’t a huge difference.

I am adding a (cheap) 30” roof mounted bar for times when I’m solo, or leading, and/ or light dust conditions like Glamis with some wind. For desert conditions following in heavy dust it will be useless.

I see. The bezels looked different on the mirrors, but the lenses look the same as BD. I thought it was a custom bezel/mount. I believe KC has a similar thing with covers and lenses.

As @Bowtiepower00 said, if you need a windshield bar, get a cheap one for a couple hundred bucks.

I honestly think the A pillars are fine. They lit up across an entire valley. Bright as shit! Just curious what the amber would do. I think They have lenses for the KC’s. I’ll look into some day.. I’m tapped out after this. Car is complete as far as accessories go come Thursday.

I’ll start looking into desert tires and wheels towards the end of the month. My wallet needs a breather! 😂

Correct, most of my running is in heavy desert dust so I prefer helmets and pumpers. Everyone in my group that has a windshield leaves it at home until we go to glamis.

Edit: you 100% absolutely want amber lights of some type if you’re following others in dust- try the covers first if they are available. It is night and day, and makes a bigger difference the heavier the dust gets.

It seems like every trip to Glamis, someone rolls their car, and the damage is usually a tweaked door, a whip or 2, and whatever light is mounted on the roof. If it’s a X3, throw in a couple of suspension links and maybe a radiator, lol. I don’t want to destroy a $1000 bar or $1500 in pods when my time comes, so I picked up a Rough Country bar for $200 with mounts for my stock cage.

Amber will work way better for dust. I’d get 2 Amber covers that way you can snap them on or off when needed. White is better for a work light if you get into a problem and need to light up an area to work on a car or something. You can also try one white one amber to cut through dust but retain better definition.

You are not wasting anytime brother, Looking good !!
i appreciate it.

New wheels won’t be ready by tomorrow. Looking forward to putting it through its paces in the dunes this weekend.

I have a feeling I’ll end up doing a clutch in the offseason.

You will want a clutch kit for sure. You throwing 33”s on? Or 35”s?
