good post. just like to add.. from 1919 until 1930, the national debt decreased every year. meaning, the country actually attempted to pay down it's debt. while fdr did deficit spend, from 1931 until june 1941, the national debt only increased by a factor of 2.5. (16.8 to 48 B). but from...
Billy, wish you could have made it out there. lot of hard work, but weather was perfect and it seemed like everybody had a great time racing. river racer was awesome, there were even a couple daycruisers out their racing, having a blast. we have one great crew out there putting this deal...
nothing wrong with the idea. but i'd set it up like mine used to be (i don't run water any more). i'd run the water out from the engne along the stringer, to the front of the seat. mount the valve on the stringer, then a line back to where it's tee'd. with the valve near the seat, you have...
ihba was not bought out by lucas oil. ihba simply close down following the 2009 world finals. lucas oil dragboats now runs a similar program (to the casual observer, it would look the same).
there were several reasons to create the ADBA at this time. this has been a very long road...
1st.

just curious, was that a "crate" 502, and was it installed fresh out of the crate? if so, how has that worked out over the long haul?
adding to the above, since i've had 'em since '77, i really like the lowspeed handling and maneuverability of a jet. also liked being able to ease into it...
this pic was taken in about 1978. it had a belly tank (no other room in the thing), and the tank vent was on the side, which tended to suck water. i relocated the vent to the top, behind the gas fill, after the '78 season. this pic is also before i fabbed the fiberglass hatch for the rear...
before... this doesn't really do it justice. after 70,000 miles in 7 years, it was ugly...
after... this doesn't really do it justice either - thanks to Gary at Enduro Trailers for a great job.
inserts can make a difference, how much of a difference depends on what you're starting with. my p/d nozzle wasn't round, it was "sorta" round, to the point that it wasn't possible to tell what the I.D. was. it's easy to bore the nozzle, or have someone bore it to fit ftn inserts.
sean, the attached link goes to a pic of tom bandy's 19' hallett.

the engine is a 49something bbc, single carbed, making just at 700hp. this thing routinely runs 92-95 in the quarter, but he uses the heck out of it on...
to me, a "hesitation" occurs when the engine runs up to a certain rpm, hesitates at that rpm, then begins to climb again. on the other hand, a bog occurs when the engine accelerates to an rpm, then falls back to idle or slower, making the driver feel like he has to pump the throttle before it...
well, post when/where so i can come down and watch/laff... since i most likely won't have anything together by then.
brian you better lemme know when your coming, i'll probably have somethin for ya...
yup, i thought that was what i said???
you really never want to cut an impeller to the point it will allow the engine to exceed peak hp. you can, and you can exceed n/a peak with n2. but if you cut the impeller so small that you exceed peakhp, and it revs to an rpm that is on the...
yes, at the same rpm, an a impeller will generate more thrust than a c. because the A is absorbing a signficantly higher hp, percentage wise, than the C (i.e, it will take more than a little beefing of the engine to accomplish this).
just for comparison sake, a look at an old berkeley...
