Dude backs very rough 21 Baha i/o off trailer, makes hard reverse port turn under fast idle with prop trimmed up, into side of nice big late model Fountain tied to dock. Prop chews on Fountain for a few seconds.
Fountain dude calmly sits and watches from captains chair. When the chewing stops...
Drove little tunnel to 120 in 1979 (decided that was as fast as I was going to go, ever)
Drove big tunnel 100 mph for 100 miles often (you need to do that).
Drove bike at 160. (don't do that).
Drove car 10 second 1/4 mile (yawn).
1990 Hobi Cat 16 National Champion (yes I'm surprised too, a...
I see the boat at 80 turning about 28 pitch at 6200.
Call Hydromotive. They will prop you with a nice planning something that don't yank the wheel out of you hands. Probably a ventilated Quad-4 through hub. And they keep shipping till it works.
As stated above, the gooseneck adapter is a no no unless the trailer is altered for the load changes. Requires opening up the sheet metal and taking the welder to the frame. Been there done that twice with 12,000 pound camper trailers. And only one didn't need it, a 16,000 pound Travel Supreme...
Another boat? Oh I wouldn't do that. This 23 is the only one I got to go from 30 to 100 at any throttle setting with no trim changes like it was sitting on the trailer. It's well worth perfecting. And it's the best big little boat I've used.
I have extensive experience with
22 Talon.

Since viewing this tragic accident four years ago I've adjusted my boat speed down from 120 in 1980 to 90 now. I run a 26 foot tunnel, that's all the risk I'm willing to take now. The video had great value for me. I've seen a lot of tragic boat videos and lost some dear friends but I wasn't...
I added additional 6 inch wide running surface to the bottom the two main sponsons. This made the boat a stepped hull. The step was about 4 foot forward of the transom. The step was like a transom notch, but 4 feet long and 2 inches deep. I bolted it through the bottom with counter sunk flat...
Lots of beautiful work. It warms my heart to see another 23 Daytona moving in the correction direction.
It's asking a lot for a tunnel boat to balance on just the tail as a first class lever at all speeds with no porpoise.
That's why, as you know, most successful designs have stepped...
