The boat got taken apart and is patiently waiting to be dropped off at WOT. Kyle and crew are going to fill all the holes in the transom and paint it inside and out. They’re also going to mount the bobs jack plates. After that I’ll bring it home and put it all back together, wire new jack plates...
I opted for the sohc 4.0 and a c4 trans as it was a very cheap way to gains ton of power over the pushrod ohv 4.0 that the truck had stock. You can build those to give you around 300 wheel HP NA and be reliable too. Stock vs stock the sohc 4.0 makes more wheel hp than a 5.0 v8.
I’m sure it’ll float the engines. At about 320lbs a piece they can’t weigh more than a blown big block with either v drive or outdrive running gear which vectors typically have.
Rex marine also had a twin engine vector with no flotation bracket just straight jack plates like I want to put on...
Well I’ve already started pullin engines to re do the transom set up anyway.
what I’m thinking is 12” bobs jack plates and 20” tabs.
My thought would be to mount the jack plates so that at their lowest setting is where the engines are currently. From there I’ll have 5” of adjustment on the...
Thanks for the responses everyone.
It’s gotta stay twins. I love this boat for the twin factor for a few reasons.
As for the porpoising, would I be wrong to assume the amount of offset is also throwing the balance of the boat off which is adding to the porpoising? I tested a theory and put 150...
Did the lifters fail? You mentioned in your early post that you had the afm stuff deleted via hp tuners but I’m curious if you had a fail that prompted the work? I’m lookin at doing the wife’s 2020 Yukon (currently 41,000 miles) and am wondering how long it’ll go with just a delete in the computer.
Winter project time.1989 hallet vector with twin Mercury outboards. Why am I doing this? Current set back is 26” with 10” tabs. The boat porpoises a lot if trimmed out. I think it could be set up better with less setback and bigger tabs.
I’m gonna be re doing my transom and engine brackets...
I just switched from bfg ko2 to falken wild peak at3 on my duramax and I love them. I have a very steep driveway and my rv accrss side is all gravel. When backing the boat up and in The bfgs would slip and dig holes everytime to the point that I’d either have to haul ass in reverse or I can’t do...
Message me if you want some can get ya set up! I promise once you see them you won’t be bummed about the money spent haha
They’re made of mirror polish stainless so they’ll last a loooong time and are heavier than the stock rock tamer weights so they’ll keep the flaps straighter.
Wow I just saw this. Thank you so much for the post and I’m so glad you like them! If anyone wants some feel free to send me a message. I can make them to have any logo or boat name on them. Typically a week lead time
They’re made of high quality stainless that’s mirror polished. Because...
Those are something I’ve been messing with lately. Made some for myself and friends. Spent the summer testing them out to see what I liked/ what I needed to change. I’ll send you a message and we’ll talk more about them! 2 sets will be no problem though.
