If you have to push the clutch to start. Remove that switch and hook it to a light switch or hidden switch. I did that back in 87 worked like a champ. And cost nothing

Went to Bridal Cave on our anniversary day finish it up at Baxter's. Woke up and hit the road. 2900 hundred miles trip we are home with Stay Toon'd .
