One of my favorite items I put in/on breakfast burritos burgers and sandwiches is canned whole green chilies. This time last year they were available in the grocery stores for about $6.50 for a 27 oz can................can't get them in the stores now and online the price is $13 - $15 a can.................WTF is going on with them?????

Inflation. Get used to it.
We’re stocking up, when stuff we like, is on sale. Prices are not going down on food.

Do any of the stores carry them when they are in season?

Down here they do for a few weeks and some stores have a roast day.

How far is Flagstaff from you?
Last time I rolled through there in August they were roasting on every other corner it seemed? Maybe road trip with a couple of coolers is in order this summer!

Superior Grocers on Nellis Blvd, Las Vegas, did it August of '24.
I'd keep a lookout in Sin City.
K-Town in July too.

Dude...

Grow your own!!!

I've been growing jalapenos and Fresno chillis. I had to put em in the planter I just built, cause my fucking Frenchie ate the Entire jalapeno plant!!! 🤣

Ask ChatGPT for instructions. It's like having a professional Gardner on tap!

👍🏼
I grow some but this year with my upcoming back surgery I won't be in the garden very much

While it sounds good in theory

Sure you can grow the seeds, but unless you live in the region they are grown in they aren’t Hatch chili.
This has been told to me by many folks as I was growing my own. And they were correct. Not the same flavor.

An Anaheim and a Hatch are essentially the same chili. And there’s a reason they have their own names.

Yep. Cause they were grown in two different places! 😜

I read there are something like 60 different varieties of Hatch chillis?

If you're just throwing em on a burger, I kinna doubt you would notice the difference?

Home grown is Always better...
