I need 10 more Mac laptops for engineering.
How do I buy or make sure they are American?
I understand. I deal with both China and US suppliers....the China suppliers are for the most part easier to deal with....like they actually want to do business with me and take my money. Many US suppliers are so fucked up its incomprehensible. Maybe they should act right, then I'd give them my money. We've never even made it far enough to discuss pricing.....they simply don't want to work it seems. Now do the isles of Walmart.I hear you but there is much more. Not that we have to do it all in the US we just need to do more.

Tariff Chinese Mac laptops and wait a year? lolLet's switch it up for you then.

It's more difficult to be a dictator when the population is armed. No weapons much more obideant. Not deflecting at all. I was curious is there was a reason for the ban, or if it's just because some people are too stupid to understand the human issue we have versus the color or attachments on a rifle.
And I agree Infinity % that each country should secure their own border and weigh down severe punishment for those who try to cross it illegally. If you have been paying attention, this country has been talking forever about how fix that issue with nothing but roadblocks from our politicians. Do you believe a country should ignore their neighbors, if their neighbors are not doing anything to prevent the flow of illegal goods out of their country? I believe our border security should not only be focusing on things and people coming in, but also what is getting out.
I VOTED FOR THE GUY who is actually taking steps to secure it. I can't control if our politicians continue to use legislation as a talking point.
So I'll ask again, are all semi-auto rifles banned in Canada, is there a real problem with mass shooting where banned weapons were used, or is it just a political talking point like it is here in the states?
It seems to me like we are all supposed to approach this tariff issue as if someone is holding a gun to our heads to continue purchasing at the rate we all currently do. Is there a law or something I missed that says we must continue to spend our money? Or do we still have the freedom to simply not buy everything we see?
What happens when all these horrible death to america taxes/tariff's hit the market and the demand for everything simply drops? Does the U.S. Government have to continue to buy anyways.... you know, to make up for all us "Little guys" just getting by in life? Or is it possible that overall demand will fall and imports will drop, not only effecting all us poor soon to be eliminated U.S. Citizens, but also all those manufactures who have guns to their heads and must continue to sell their products without price adjustment?
I just reupped my tinfoil hat supply, and I'm putting a 500% tariff on anyone buying them that didn't vote for Trump... Order up fellas!![]()
only an idiot would think that the tariffs won't raise consumer prices....and we have plenty of those (idiots). The goal is short term pain for long term gain....whether it actually works out like that remains to be seen. How big a deal is it if our economic growth stops or our GPD shrinks?
Can I just decide to buy fewer groceries for my family of 5? light bulbs TP, and a thousand other consumable - somewhat. Sure I can put off car for while but there is a core spending I cannot simply reduce that will be taxed going forward because I have no domestic choices.
This effect of this varies from person to person and business to business.
Buying less= selling less.
The private sector and government employees have very different realities.
I dont really know if you are working or retired but from what I know you are a working cop.
You only get hurt on the spend side. Your income side wont suffer at all.
You are a government worker right? You get regular raises right?
Your income isn't really effected as its paid by the government, negotiated and guaranteed by others and your retirement also paid for by others so you can basically flip the bird to the private sector because you are covered, you aren't the little guy.
You are the big guy benefitting from the tax money your department gets from this.
For people that need their 401Ks to grow in order to pay their retirement and bills, growth is critical. Growth in commerce, and growth in stock.
I really want to see manufacturing come back, and I want to see economic growth, but that side of the program simply doenst exists as of yet.
All I've seen is the taxation side being sold as something that its not.
It's being sold as a penalty to " offenders", but it's not that at all.
On the other hand, this could all be bread and circus. How big a deal is it if our economic growth stops or our GPD shrinks?

There were two orders, one was a base 10% tariff on every product from every country. All of them.
The second one is a made up number based upon no one knows but it was done by individual country.
Now imagine a scenario where this is just a big show. Over the next several months Trump goes out into the Rose Garden over and over, states that the other country has bent their knee whether they have or have not, and he removes the made up tariff number one country at a time. And he does this repeatedly showing the world how successful he has been.
His base cheers his "success", and businesses are simply left with a base 10 percent tariff, a number that is only about double what the collective total of tariffs collected by the US government was prior to this charade. And on top of it, businesses can keep the price increases in place.
Not out of the realm of possibilities.

There are no tariffs, there are anti-dumping tariffs that apply both ways, Alberta's border is secureIt is pretty simple, cancel your US tariffs and secure yore border. Is that really hard to understand?
Yes, you can decide to buy less for your family of 5 like I will have to do for my family of 6. We are not talking about core needs here, we are talking excess. End the doom and gloom dude. Hold off on the 200k pontoon, or trips to Vegas and only spend on what's really needed. Not referencing you literally, but you get the point. How big a deal is it if our economic growth stops or our GPD shrinks?

A lot to unpack there. Working yes. Regular pay raises... hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah... takes a breath... hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Maybe we need to hire you to negotiate. I think an honest look at that would have to done department by department, but I can guarantee you my department is decades behind other local Cali departments with no visible catch up in the future. If I were much younger in my career, I'd go to the trades, learn my way, and build my own business for stability. I did not become a cop because I thought they made a lot of money. As of now, yes I'm pretty much on a fixed income, paid for by the very taxes I pay right along with everyone else who wants to live in a modern society and enjoy all those benefits. Yes, I will have a pension when I retire that will barely allow me to live in Cali at this point, and given how the world is ending, probably nowhere. You ever met a Cop who became rich by only being a Cop? Lower middle class is probably a good reference for most. But if you think that equates to being the Big Guy then we'll go with it. And to that point, anybody who became a cop to get rich is either a complete idiot or corrupt. That is an entirely different conversatio to be had.Buying less= selling less.

Who do you know personally that thought Trump bringing in these Tariff's would have no effect on the price of goods in America? I do not know a single person that thought that, but if you read this thread, apparently we've all been fooled this whole time. Oh yeah, Well I'm gonna sneak across that border tonight and I'm bringing a MAGA hat with me! Besides, that is where I heard RD had Regor deported to so I'm going to break him out! There are no tariffs, there are anti-dumping tariffs that apply both ways, Alberta's border is secure
The east vs west is a canadian thing, and has been for 100+ years, ottawa sticks its head up its ass and Alberta gets the bill to pay for its removal.Oh, so we have a east vs west coast kind of battle going on here. So what product does the West side of Canada provide that all us down here in the U.S.A. can't get from somewhere else?
To the contrary. It has always sounded to me like the moves Trump is making are in an effort to not have to purchase your oil. Maybe you haven't thought this through as the west side might still have the oil, but if we aren't buying "4 million" barrels a day from you, how does that play out for not only the east side, but those on the west side selling it?
It really sounds to me like Canada relies on the U.S. to refine a large portion of their oil regardless of coast. Am I wrong here?
Sneak? Just drive over and I have a hat or two you can choose from while we have a beer and throw the empties at Regors cageOh yeah, Well I'm gonna sneak across that border tonight and I'm bringing a MAGA hat with me! Yep, this tax increase if very regressive as it is basically just a sales tax on all goods sold. The folks that are only effected by the "spend side", have been feeling the constant pressure of increased prices for several years. This is not new territory or pain for a large percentage of the population. Others will feel it now, because it hits them two fold. On the spend side, their personal/household spending may have been a much smaller percentage of their bottom line. Not very noticeable really.
Buckle up buttercups, welcome to the party![]()
Good news, another month until the end of our existence... Gotta go and start knocking out that bucket list.It is goods on the water after the 5th for the 10 percent and after the 9th for the other made up number.
So the real impact on costs is at least a month out.
Naturally prices will rise before then, just as the stock market goes down before any impact actually happens in operations.
We raised prices today on existing inventory, as it is the new market price today.
Yep, this tax increase if very regressive as it is basically just a sales tax on all goods sold.
The rich will not even blink as the vast majority of their income is not spent on consumption, the working middle class will get hammered as they try to balance income with the new higher prices. But to be fair they voted for this with full knowledge of the proven consequences. They are getting exactly what they have voted for so that should provide some comfort.
It's a little price increase, you and I will be fine.Good news, another month until the end of our existence... Gotta go and start knocking out that bucket list.

Can you look to the future here and see any benefit? I think the major problem we have now across the board is too many people want everything right now. They expect no hard times, no slow downs, just all positives and full benefits upfront. That is a reality I've never known and have only known to exist is extremely wealthy generational type family's. I refer to them as the Big Guys, not my kind.
Assuming I'm one of those 2 guys....I'm not trying to sell you shit.We got two guys
The last guy wanted to sell me idea that paying more taxes was a good thing for me and that it will benefit me in the long run. Still waiting.
This other guy is trying to sell me the same shit in a different way, instead of calling it tax he calls it a tariff which is the same thing, and tell me great things are coming my way. Still waiting.
Crossing is easy, getting away from that area is hard, north or south, easy top spot and track as there is very few people and fewer roadsThere is a whole lot of nothing on the US/Alberta border, how can you be so sure?
We crossed into BC last year at Rooseville and it as not what I would call secure, just don't leave your automobile idle, that's apparently a crime. Ya'll got some weird rules, but those Rockies are on point.
Snow machines then. LOLCrossing is easy, getting away from that area is hard, north or south, easy top spot and track as there is very few people and fewer roads
Rooseville is in BC, BC is run by commies

I'm saying there isn't shit you can do about it, or I can do about it....so your choices are to either give up or figure out how to make the best of it.

Dang it, I'm so dumb I wanna try it.
I think there may be a disconnect, or maybe a misunderstanding by some about others. Some feel that "the little guy" just doesn't understand the the tariffs, that some of us just aren't bright enough to understand the consequences. This may be true for some, but not all. I think think there are quite a few that have realized the status quo was leading us to our demise.
This may not be the desired course for some, but it's a change of course. There may be some like me, who won't be able to help pave the way monetarily for our offspring, but want our offspring to at least have the chances we did to make it where we are. Pay raises may not be forthcoming, but when a dollar is worth a dollar, not fifty cents, people can still get by.
I've said it many times before, whatever is coming, I'd rather it start now. My general
Well, I'll give you credit. You didn't outright say I don't understand...There is definitely a disconnect .
You believe these new taxes are going to improve you and your families life at some point.
I do not believe or trust the government.
I do not believe additional taxation is going to be improve the life of anyone I know or in the near to mid future and perhaps never at the rate it's currently going.
Well, I'll give you credit. You didn't outright say I don't understand...
Let me put it bluntly, in my more redneck vernacular:
Those of us with bloodied and calloused hands are laughing at the pearl clutchers getting pinched.
No sense in whining about it, we just keep on moving on. It's that, or roll over and die. There is no in between for many of us, no time or energy for it. I ain't planning my funeral just yet.
"Bloodied and calloused hands" is I guess mine? I always think of Pops coming home at night, always left before dawn, often bloodied rags in the truck or a bandana from cuts. When I lost my finger at work, that's what I thought of climbing the ladder to the roof deck the following week. Life isn't easy. I've caught grief from some I have respect for here, because I'm really here too much. Very true, I must admit. As current events have thrown the world in turmoil, personal events have done so to my home. I'd love to be able to do 50+ hours on site again...it was easier, and harder, in different ways."Those of us with bloodied and calloused hands are laughing at the pearl clutchers getting pinched.
That's a great line btw - is that you or did you lift that from somewhere? Really I'll use that myself.
I think we agree that it's always entertaining to see the arrogant takers get what is duly coming to them and few feel sorry when they do.
We disagree just who is getting pinched - to you it's the pearl clutchers.
I think its the average guy getting fucked the most here.
He's has no practical way to avoid most of the taxes and is being told the pot of gold is just over the rainbow while the government gets more of their money while giving back peanuts.
I kind of see this as the first, and maybe necessary, salvo this country needs to get shocked back to reality. Weβve been enjoying the largesse of hand outs and excessive government spending for far too long. This looming federal debt crisis is going to cause pain for all of us. Time to get used to the new reality, and I guess it takes a President in his second term to deliver the bad medicine.
Wherever these tariff rates land, it will be a needed increase in revenue for the federal government. Now letβs whack spending and get out of this downward spiral of big federal deficits.
I appreciate your strong work ethic."Bloodied and calloused hands" is I guess mine? I always think of Pops coming home at night, always left before dawn, often bloodied rags in the truck or a bandana from cuts. When I lost my finger at work, that's what I thought of climbing the ladder to the roof deck the following week. Life isn't easy. In a way, I misspoke. It's not just the "pearl clutchers" getting pinched. It is all of us, no doubt. We will all feel it. As I said though, others have already been feeling it, in one way or another. Those who are more financially stable have been fairly insulated to some costs though. I'm actually very lucky. By the grace of God, and some very nice people, I've been able to keep things somewhat stable. Some others I know have gone into serious debt, trying to maintain.
Do I know or believe there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? No. I have to believe what is ahead is better than what is here though. Moving forward is better than standing still.
Hit the days running if you still can, even though most of them suck.
Thank you, but I think it's everywhere. Maybe it's lost in the fray. Big cities you're going to see the majority, because there's just so damned many. There will always be the others though. Maybe it's because everyone has to move so fast in the cities, they can't see what's around? Maybe the percentage is lower, or it could be the societal shift pushing people away from trades seen now as unskilled, when in fact there is much skill required with the labor seen.I appreciate your strong work ethic.
I didn't see much of that in LA, some.
I see that in the mountains up here.
What happened to this?Apple is investing 500 Billion in factories in the USA.

I think what you are seeing is those on the "right" supporting actually getting something done about the issue facing our nation, instead of looting, burning, and calling everyone racist. And we all know, in order to get the Democrats to support anything, all we need to do is have Trump rally against it. Tesla is a great example.Nice. They will invest the money and the higher wages and cost of manufacturing the US will result in more expensive iPhones.
I never thought I would see so many on the right excited about tax increases. Not too long ago, the big deal was getting a pipeline of oil from Canada into the US. Next thing I know, I'm going to wake up to Democrats saying drill baby drill and screw electric cars
