I guess there is a caveat that departments may consider their "operational needs". But the order states collab and training as the reason behind it...so we'll see what happens.

LOL, we have our priorities straight in our office....our lunch budget.

At DTLA prices, we will need to brown bag it. 😁

That could put a strain on the Uber system during rush hour.

Except for people who cant drive, why would anyone take an Uber to work?

It’s gotten to the point where uber is cheaper than owning a car car payment, maintenance, and insurance.

The second car family is turning to Uber.

I find this stupid making people go back to the office.

I do as well. It's not a one-size fits all approach. Some jobs definitely benefit from being in the office. Other jobs like mine have people scattered all over the country and we wouldn't all be in the same office no matter what. What are people in those situations supposed to do? Go to the office and sit on Teams meetings anyway?

I also end up working longer hours by working remotely. If I had to go in to the office and drive home after the day is over, I'm leaving on time and the day is over. No way I'm pulling my laptop back out when I get home and working until 6 or 7 like I sometimes do now. Whatever it is will wait until I'm back in the office the next day.

As long as productivity stays up and the jobs can be done well remotely, let them be remote. All this is about is whiny fucks complaining that they can't work remotely while other people do and management making "feel good" decisions to appease them.

That sounds like some Millennial/Gen Z bullshit to me.

It would cost $28.95 for me to get to work (23 miles away) at 7:50pm. Definitely not cheaper than owning a car lol.

Yep. My wife is accountant and works for the state. She is actually more productive at home in her detached office than having to drive 30 miles to the office. Some people need to be in the office some don't.

They actually just started to downsize her office and made everyone clean their desks out. I guess the downsizing will have to stop.

Yep as a remote employee in supply chain I am way more effective at home than in the office.

Also to the comment hearing someone at the beach or D land. Those people should be fired. No way in hell can I get away with that. Being remote I am actually monitored more than in the office.

The stories you hear about people doing that is not real life remote. In public and private those people should be fired period.

I’ll never go back to the office again.

So my point stands I think it’s stupid to send people back to the office. Again this is only for office type people.

Field people well sorry about your life choices

I hear this a lot with the younger people I Uber.
But I also drop and pick up so many people that have two cars in their driveway. Drop them at a grocery store or mall. Some I even pick up later. Makes no sense to me.

Some are just fucking lazy. Seriously have driven 17 yr olds less then 1/4 mile. Then picked them up a half hour later and drove them back that same 1/4 mile. SmH. 🤦

For starters, I'd like to say a friendly "F' off" about the comment about "field people" 🤣
Us field F'rs make a lot of life possible for you "desk pilots";)

In all seriousness though, I really think that, for the most part, the private sector can do well with individuals working from home. It saves on office costs for the owners, and fuel and time for the employees. Good employees are, we'll, good. That's why they were hired and were able to keep the positions. Now, state and federal employees...they are a bit different. A lot of them did the bare minimum with their boss on the same floor. Putting their boss in a different county, with little to no oversight? Probably not the best or most efficient way to operate.

Yep. See it all the time. The lady that cleans my house car has been broken for a couple months now. For now she takes a UBER to my house with her cleaning supplies. 🤷‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️
