Well, that was mechanical failure perhaps or they had a hard lining

Remember when this same thing happened with trains a year or two ago? I think it's pretty similar to that, stuff happens everyday. It just seems to be the focus after the first major incident.

Last time a friend replaced a feeble front strut on his airplane a used one was $19.000 + labor + signoff.
A Lear may be astronomically higher and someone deferred the change-out.

The last time we flew on Aer Lingus it was on nearly new A330's. Great airplane, better than average airline. :D

AFA Lear 35's... They are hell for stout. Usually a gear leg comes off when it runs into something solid. Prayers to all those involved.

The landing gear was stripped off when the plane departed the runway at a pretty good speed. It travelled across a taxiway and onto the parking ramp, where it hit a larger Gulfstream 280 super midsize jet.

Unfortunately the cockpit was crushed by the impact with the Gulfstream, and the crew of the Lear were killed.

RIP

There is a massive market for counterfeit parts in airplane maintenance. All the way down to the faked logos on the parts. Not saying its the case here, but its something that can be attributed to accidents.

Those rocky areas are water retention between the east and west taxiways and the runway down the center. If one goes shooting off the runway through those depressed and rocky water retention areas it is guaranteed to shear something off on the undercarriage.

The cockpit struck the trailing edge root of the 280's right wing. Fate comes calling, and we must obey. How sad.

I ride southwest a lot. Most of the planes have ash trays in the bathroom. That’s pretty telling
Actually most SWA jets hit the flight cycle life limit at a relatively young chronological age. The oldest SWA jet flying is somewhere just over 20 years old, but accumulated over 40,000 flight cycles.

Oddly enough on my flight home from Missouri last week I sat on a plane for like 6 hours. I rode from Missouri to Texas to Phoenix to Ontario. Got to talking to the flight attendant, his name was Kelly. Cool dude. Anyways I asked why is there an ashtray in the bathroom. He said these planes are all old. Flying from Ontario to Phx Sunday I noticed the plane had an ashtray but the cig picture had been polished off. From Phx to Pdx the cig pick and ashtray were back. Most of the southwest planes I fly on don’t have chargers. Sometimes I’ll get lucky and a newer plane does have the charger. These are just things I’ve started to observe because I fly wayyy too much. I could write a book on airports and rude people but that’s for a different day 😂 too be fair I’ve met plenty of nice people too though

I’m guessing his girlfriend didn’t have her seatbelt on either…

Always where your seat belt when flying! She was lucky it wasn’t worse for her.

What speed would you guess the Scottsdale aircraft was at by time it impacted the other plane?

No idea, based on the force of impact on the other airplane they were moving pretty fast.

Does Vince Vaughn really own his own jet plane? I didn't think he was that big of a star? LOL Doesn't it cost a million a year to keep one of these planes maintained and in use?

He is part of a fractional ownership, he does not own the entire plane, just a little bit of it... like a lease.

I would venture to say that very few individual owners where the plane just sits for weeks or months waiting around for the owner to need a ride. Single owner/corporate sure…. But an entertainer/actor/musician has the primary schedule option with it being leased/ chartered to other people while they are not on tour/business etc…

You would be surprised. Rich people don’t like strangers shitting and fucking on their plane.

Come on out to scottsdale, I’ll show you a couple dozen planes that barely do 50 hours a year.
