Those rocky areas are water retention between the east and west taxiways and the runway down the center. If one goes shooting off the runway through those depressed and rocky water retention areas it is guaranteed to shear something off on the undercarriage.
I ride southwest a lot. Most of the planes have ash trays in the bathroom. That’s pretty telling
Actually most SWA jets hit the flight cycle life limit at a relatively young chronological age. The oldest SWA jet flying is somewhere just over 20 years old, but accumulated over 40,000 flight cycles.
Oddly enough on my flight home from Missouri last week I sat on a plane for like 6 hours. I rode from Missouri to Texas to Phoenix to Ontario. Got to talking to the flight attendant, his name was Kelly. Cool dude. Anyways I asked why is there an ashtray in the bathroom. He said these planes are all old. Flying from Ontario to Phx Sunday I noticed the plane had an ashtray but the cig picture had been polished off. From Phx to Pdx the cig pick and ashtray were back. Most of the southwest planes I fly on don’t have chargers. Sometimes I’ll get lucky and a newer plane does have the charger. These are just things I’ve started to observe because I fly wayyy too much. I could write a book on airports and rude people but that’s for a different day
