I took my 14 year old grandson to a retro arcade a few months ago. I talked him into a two player game of Asteroids. I didn't tell him that in the 80s I would take one quarter to the Korea Mart by my house and play for hours.

My name was on the first five best scores on that machine, all of them 99,999. That's hard to do, you have to kill off your bonus spaceships with the correct sized rocks, and the last spaceship and rock collision has to run the count to 99,999. If you go over, the score resets back to zero.

I let the kid go first, he got a couple thousand points. My turn...I blasted all of the rocks except a few small ones, then started flying the spaceship vertically, crossing the screens at max speed and blasting the flying saucers as they appeared.

I rolled up 20,000 something points on my first turn. The look on my grandson's face was priceless. He was stunned by the old man's mad skills.
