This boat is awesome! Handles rough water extremely well, can't believe it is a 19'. It rockets right up on plane, although 1st gear is essentially useless. Tachs out quickly in 2nd and then pulls hard through third up to about 5,000 rpm and then it is out of motor.

Ran 74 with only me in it, but a ton of fuel. Seems slow.

So.... the TT is going in by July 4th. Rex already got his call... ;) Interior is gonna come out today and I am going to start de-rigging it to send all the billet rigging to powdercoat this week, and then back together as a TT that can pull this prop and gears.

Loving the 3500 RPM 50 mph cruise though.

All in all... great weekend on the water... Love the boat.

Seen you idle by the house Saturday, boat sure looks good in the water.
What motor is in it now?

A relatively healthy NA big block.

The TT downstairs in the garage talks to me in my sleep though. It will not be ignored.

Yeah, that way we can both back off at the same time when the boat runs out of talent... :D

How's the engine swap coming along?

Engine swap is done, but got some shitty news about a bad crank trigger sensor once at the river, so haven't run it yet. Had to reconfigure the ECU to run on an LS crank trigger hall effect sensor, and build a bracket for it first.

Any progress report and pics Wes?

Tom

I'll try to take some today. Interior is getting re-done right now, but hardware is in and looks good.

Cool. Sounds like things are in full motion. I'm sure you'll enjoy it even more with the new mill. Did you get an idea on gearing and prop?

Here's a couple... This part you see here was pretty much a speed-rig endeavor. I bought the boat on Father's day and hat it "back on the water" except for the crank trigger problem by July 4th weekend.

De-rigged...

Next two are before and after when I sanded off all the pinlines and re-polished it... got rid of the name, and all the 80's lettering and such...

And lastly (for now) the new 4" tips held up to it. The steel tips were just to get a map on the dyno. Thanks to Shawn Gibson for the nice stainless parts. They look perfect.

Using the same prop, but bumped the gearing from 12% to 40%. See how that works for starters.

Yeah, it looked awesome on the water.. until it wouldn't start.

So much for calling my shot. I thought it would take two turns to fire.

My neighbor Tom ski raced. He got one of the last red Spectra 19's that Teague rigged and Tom Reynolds put a big turbo motor in it. Boat 143. I got pitched out of that thing at about 90 at an Elsinore race in the 80's. Young and dumb.

Classic! Im surprised I didnt meet you back then. I saw alot of Tom when I was ski racing and racing mod vp with Craig Nelson and Mark Nathanson. That pic has to be mid 80s.

Yep Tom had what, 5 boats? My favorite was the staggered 29 he built, that baby moved. I think Tom did the Parker race with those guys? He had a shop in Signal Hill full of fun toys.

That Spectra he had hauled the mail, mechanical injection on the turbos was a bit crazy to tune, but it worked.

What kind of speeds did it run? Sounds like the handling gets a little rowdy after 100-110, and the motor should have that beat by nearly 20 mph.

No speedo in his boat and no GPS, but that thing rocked and way up on top it got pretty spooky. Spun it in a turn at Elsinore going way too fast I skipped a long ways out of the backwards seat.;)
