These Quagas are a major nuisance. Unfortunately, its just a matter or time before they are everywhere:grumble:

In Tahoe, they will "disinfect" the bilge for you and then give a pass.

I was advised to dry the hell out of everything days before I went to launch. Passed with no questions.

No water in the bilge, bone dry. I had water in the drive. They made me lower my out drive and literally a tea spoon of water came out from the water intake.

For $40.

It's turning into a money maker for launch ramps.

The Quagga only lives out of water for 7 days BTW. I got the full Hot Water treatment last time up there.

Try $85! I had to pay that just for the tags - I didn't even need a cleaning. Then $25 to launch...Oh, and another $20 to bribe the guard to unlock the chain later so we could retrieve.

You got busted by the welcome to California greeters?

6 of them out there today. Chasing Quagga must pay well.

I leave my window up. If they make me roll it down and ask where I'm coming from, I tell them Disneyland.

None of their fucking business where I'm coming from.

I pulled that shit out on the 8 heading back from Buttercup some years back. They had me pull over and tore my Motorhome apart. Left everything there in piles for me to put back.

Lesson learned. Saying "Your Momma's House" was a bad idea.

Here's a pic of quagga's on a boat in Mead a couple of years ago. Havazoo has the same problem. Little bastards do a lot of damage.

what a hassle. When i go to powell i usually do not use boat for the month beforeand make sure theres no water in there from washing before trip i noramlly pull drain plug out too(almost forgot to put in last year and had wife drive boat for first time while i find a campsite).

Never been hassle there though just some honesty as i would hate to see some lake like that get destroyed from ignorance.

Nord, I've only had a lil to drink and this still sounds kinda faggy. Put your plug back in and wipe up the mess an get back to us.

This was my experience with the inspection.

They are gonna loss a lot of peeps to this BS.
The guy checked my boat and said it was clean on the outside. He needed to see the engine compartment. I said Ok. He then stepped on to the boat with shoes on :grumble::grumble: He looks in the bilge and says you have a little oil at the bottom. I said well its a blower motor so you get a little blow by sometimes. He then goes and says I could fail you because the law says no fluid in the bilge. I told him do they live in oil? He said no. So I told him then how does the oil make it so I couldn't launch? He then tip toed around for a while and says your ok but next time the bilge needs to be dry. Needless to say I have 2 sea strainers that are full of water and he doesn't see/say anything about it.
I dont know how this whole thing is gonna play out in the middle of summer but it should be interesting.:rolleyes:
This whole inspection took 10 min and then you go back to the gate and pay your launch fee. When leaving you go to same place and get a band to bypass inspection next time if the band is not broken from your boat/trailer.

A buddy and I got turned down at Silverwood in his Boston Whaler. Same "lower your drive for me, please, would ya, pal?" Couple dribbles and have a nice day. Boat hadn't been used in two years, it was garden hose... He tells the guy, just look at the trailer, hasn't been wet in years... No matter, didn't pay anything just went home..

Couple days ago I replaced a water pump gasket on the BBC. Boat hasn't been out since November since I been workin on it, when I took the bolts out and pulled off the gizzy a cup of slimy water dumps out into the hull. So are they gonna start checking water jackets too?

Think I'm in the minority here, but IMO this will become a major problem.

- They're already clogging pumps / filters that feed Ca. their drinking water. Imagine how much of your tax dollars is already going to keep those pumps clean / functioning & the effort to try & kill them off.
- It's really going to suck when you need to wear those gay wet-suit type shoes to avoid cutting our feet up @ the river.

People should take it seriously, it's already impacting you much more than a $40 dollar ticket.

Oh yeah... Oh yeah... but does all that really out weigh me being able to take my boat where I want when I want:smackbum:

On another note.... We should all just tell them we are free men and women and are entlitled to "free" movement anywhere we want:D.

When I got decontaminated at Powell last year it was painless? I just told them where my boat had been and they ran me over to a free steam decon station... 10 minute deal and I got to warm up the motor...
