1/4 SCALE FLATS

A pair of 1/4 scale flatbottoms built by one of the guys I share a shop with. These are scratch built from Dumas model boat plans of a '60s era 18 ft. Hallett flatbottom. These plans were first scaled up to 1/4" = 1" scale. Each boat is all wood and 54 inches long, powered by a 30 cc Homelite string trimmer engine. All of the cav plate, rudder and drive hardware is from a 1/4 scale crackerbox kit. The white boat has a fairly stock engine with a centrifugal clutch, the flamed wood decker runs a modified Homelite without a clutch. Both boats have R/C controls for throttle, steering and a kill switch. They handle and look like full size flats when running. The boat under construction is going to be a cruiser of some sort. The ducks at the local pond hate these boats.

Well now that you mention it there is a 1/4 scale version of a Casale v-drive, I see them on ebay from time to time. And, if you really wanna do it right check out Conley 1/4 scale V8 gasoline engines, you can go n/a or supercharged.

Those are cool...get the v drive happenin' and some servos on the plate...SHAZZAM! You'd have naked midgets laying on the deck for magazine shoots...

Yeah it has a marine head w/ a pickup that flows water through the head when moving.

If he'd build a 48" Schiada RC I'd be in!!
